Dea Coka Family Law Attorney

Attorney Coka is a family law attorney, focusing on divorce and custody litigation as well as matrimonial planning, prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, removal actions, and complex marital asset division. She is an experienced family law litigator and works to negotiate favorable settlements for her clients outside of the courtroom whenever possible.

Attorney Coka guides clients with compassion and honesty. Understanding that individuals are often facing the most emotionally, psychologically and financially challenging time of their lives, she takes the time and care to listen to their specific concerns, determine their needs and goals, and customize a strategy that achieves those goals, while being clear and forthright about the process.

Attorney Coka counsels clients as part of the Middlesex County Probate and Family Court’s Lawyer for the Day Program and is a certified Conciliator through the Norfolk County Bar Association Conciliation Program.

Results

  • Successfully represented a client in a three-day divorce trial in the Middlesex Probate and Family Court wherein the removal of a two-year-old child to California was the primary issue and removal was allowed.
  • Involved in a reported Appellate Court decision on the issue of differentiating bonuses vs. equity payments to a party and whether the same are includable or not for the purposes of calculating alimony and child support.
  • Successfully represented a Husband in a three-day divorce arbitration trial regarding custody of two minor children and marital asset division..
  • Successfully represented a Wife in a four-day divorce arbitration after a 27-year marriage involving division of a $15 million dollar marital estate.
  • Successfully represented a Husband in a two-day divorce trial in Essex Probate and Family Court involving the custody of the parties’ teenage daughter and marital asset division.

Community Involvement, Interests, Hobbies:

Attorney Coka was born in Albania and immigrated to the United States when she was six years old. Her background as an immigrant is what initially sparked her interest in studying law and has guided her through much of her professional career and her personal life. She is passionate about giving back to the Albanian American community and participates in various charities and mentors young lawyers and law students through the Albanian American Bar Association, where she serves as President.  When she is not counseling clients or volunteering, Attorney Coka enjoys cooking, running, hiking and spending time with her family friends, and with her dog Milo.
