Luis Guzman, JCL, JD, LLM, MCIArb
For over 20 years, I have litigated cases throughout the State of Florida, both in federal and state courts and at trial and appellate levels. My practice areas have included business/commercial, contracts, insurance, premises, personal injury, real estate, land use, probate, intellectual property, education, property damage, federal civil rights, employment discrimination, government procurement, eminent domain, criminal, and unfair/deceptive business practices.
My extensive experience in litigation informs my work in alternative dispute resolution, both in strategic terms and counseling clients about approaches to resolution of a matter. I am certified by the State of Florida as a Circuit and Appellate Court Mediator and as a Qualified Arbitrator. I am a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Commercial Panel, the London Court of International Arbitration, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s panel of arbitrators.
I may be knowledgeable but I’m always eager to learn more. To that end, I am a member of several professional organizations, including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Federal Bar Association, the Education Law Association, and the Orange County Bar Association. Being a lifetime learner, I have the honor of holding numerous international law degrees, including an LLM in international dispute resolution from Queen Mary University of London and a master’s degree in ecclesiastical law from KU Leuven in Belgium. I consult and advise individuals and institutions in matters of ecclesiastical and canonical law.
A native of New Jersey, I graduated from Princeton University in 1999 and Emory University School of Law in 2002, after which I became a member of the Florida Bar.
